After Thanksgiving Sales – Do You?

So do YOU go to those after Thanksgiving sales?

I’d rather pay normal prices than go out super early, wait in lines, fight with people, push and shove, or put up with the hassles. I think it’s nuts.

Especially when you can get the same deals and free shipping online now-a-days. I just don’t get the craziness.

Can someone explain it to me, please? It’s like we are thankful for ONE day, and then all have to go out and get more stuff! LOL

Seriously, if you went out early or did the shopping out there – tell me why – change your name if must. I need help understanding it. Don’t be offended, I’m not being mean. I just don’t understand it. I’m a shopper! I enjoy going out for a day at the mall, so I’m not a typical guy who hates to shop – I just don’t get the Black Friday crowded malls, go out at 3 a.m. and wait in super duper long lines to save a few bucks.

O.K. I bet I get no comments. LOL.

  1. I agree! We sleep in on black Friday and enjoy a day as a family. We went out to best buy around 7pm this year, but it’s quiet by that point!

  2. 14′ trampoline with enclosure for $165. Find anything close to that including shipping online! I dare ya!

personally, i don’t get it either. i usually avoid it like the black plague though this year i made an exception for two things but no 3 a.m. stuff. 9 was good enuf for me. got the two things at two different places and went home. and it wasn’t even “Christmas shopping”! i’m basically with you on this one.

Sorry – can’t help you. I don’t shop on Black Friday. I avoid it like the Black Plague.

  5. Well, I know I’m not a minority especially since I saw a TON of people out shopping at 4:30 am on Black Friday! It’s simple… I go because I enjoy it. It’s nice to get a discount and if I can save $100 on a surround sound system, then that’s even better! I don’t push and shove, therefore I don’t get pushed and shoved back (so far)! I’m not really a morning person, but I enjoy the “hunt” I suppose. And just because I go shopping early on Black Friday doesn’t mean that I’m not thankful EVERYDAY for all that God has blessed me with. If you want to go…then go. If you want to stay in bed…stay in bed. It’s funny to me that the people who don’t go are the ones that are fascinated with the “why do people do it?” question. It’s not a bad thing to go and try to get a bargain and have fun doing it…in my opinion anyway. I personally don’t understand men who get up that early to go sit in a tree stand trying to spot a deer or launch a boat to get the big fish..but hey, whatever lets someone enjoy life…

  6. Cheryl, I will admit – I went to a midnight opening at a Toy-R-Us when Star Wars had been gone for 20 years, and it was one of the most insane nights of my life AND one of the most fun nights of my life! It was ALL grown men, and after the doors opened, (and the pushing and shoving) all the SW toys were GONE in seconds, and the everyone set up their “own” little stores and it was a swap meat for the next 3-4 hours. It was crazy!

So I can totally see the Black Friday fun-of-the-hunt aspect for those who enjoy going out for the sheer challenge of it. For me, that was a once in a life time event. I went to the next Midnight opening when SW II came out, and it was nothing like the SW I, calmer and none of the craziness. ( http://tinyurl.com/swtrus2 ) but the first one was before blogs.

  7. I used to and now I regret not going because my son and I made it a tradition and then to go to breakfast. I don’t think it is about the sales – the time with him. Sometimes I can miss it and this year I did – he went without me.

  8. Mike – I can definitely see how it could be fun to do with someone! I’ll have to try that! Especially with the breakfast afterwards!! Great idea!
