Just some friendly advice: Do not put off backing up your computer. Do not wear white socks with black shoes. Do not send an angry e-mail. Do not buy underwear at a thrift store. Do not donate underwear to a thrift store. Do not post “following” on a Facebook thread. Just select to be notified. Do not drive slow in the fast lane. Do not drive fast in the slow lane. Super Bible Bowl is Back and UPDATED!

There are nearly 24,000 Zone Posts on Kidology.org with ideas, lessons, crafts, games and more. One of the most popular for years has been my Super Bible Bowl. It is actually the 282nd Zone Post – so that tells you how far back it goes! (It was first published in 2003, but created long before that.) As I was reviewing it recently I realized it was still made up of OVERHEAD PROJECTOR slides since I created it so long ago. Who uses those anymore? So all the graphics were portrait instead of the landscape format we use today. It was time to update! I updated the images, the lesson, tweaked the rules, and even included all the Bible trivia questions you need so you don’t have to collect those to play. Dan Huffman and Creatively Reaching Kids

Kidology.org is the small ministry publisher. Dan Huffman is one of the most creative Children’s Pastors that I know. I’ve known Johnny Magic for many years. I’ve performed with him, highly recommended him, and learned from him as well. AIM for EVERYONE

I was reading a discussion over on the Kidology.org forums about how to teach to a wide age range and there were some comments suggesting different age ranges to aim for. Some were suggesting “aiming for the middle” or “targeting the older kids” so as not to bore them, whereas others thought it better to teach to the younger ones so as not to lose them. I’d like to suggest a different approach after having taught over 1,000 children’s church services to first through sixth graders for over fifteen years. It’s a rather simple suggestion: AIM FOR EVERYONE! The key in a large group with a large age range is to shift your focus constantly. The secret is to be highly visual and to be physically moving and animated to keep the younger ones tracking with you (don’t stand still and never sit, meaning you the teacher) and use humor constantly to keep a connection with your audience. Think about it: Senior pastors preach to a wide audience range of age and intelligence and education and world view and learning styles and they can do it!
