SPEED STACKS Q and A!

WHAT IS SPEED STACKS? (See ABOUT SPEED STACKS)

How do stackers keep track of their scores?

When our stackers come to a Speed Stack Event, they check in at the SIGN IN table and pick up their Speed Stack Score Cards. (PDF sample) They use this as they practice to keep track of their times (from StackMat Timers) and then turn in the card at tournament time.  Only Pastor Karl, as an official sanctions tournament director of the WCSA can declare a competition 'official' and only during such a declared 'tournament' can VCB high scores be achieved, and only Pastor Karl can record tournament scores on the score card.  The cards are turned in at the end of the clinic / event.

However, we have designed and provide a small Speed Stacks Record Book that the stackers can take home to record their scores during the week.  They are welcome to transfer personal scores to our from their score book and/or the score card.  But only Pastor Karl can record tournament scores on the score card, though they may copy their tournament scores into their record book to remember them. (see PDF sample of record book)

What is the difference between "Practice Score" and "Competition Score?" There is a difference between a stackers 'personal scores' and 'competition scores.'  It all comes down to how well they can hold up under the pressure of competition!

Practice Score: The best score you have on a StackMat Timer, with at least one witness, does not have to be at a Speed Stack event or a Speed Stack judge.  Does not win any awards or prizes, just reflects your improvement. These scores can even be accepted from scores you got at home, if you have a StackMat with timer.  In other words, we'll take your word for it.  You gain nothing from making up a great practice score, as you would just make it more difficult on yourself to beat it, and rob yourself of the enjoyment of beating a score.  Make sure your 'personal best' score did not have any fumbles in it!

Competition Score:  As a sanctioned judge of the World Cup Stacking Association, Pastor Karl is able to declare a competition 'an official' VCB Competition.  These scores are from such a competition, and only one 'competition score' is possible at any one event, usually at the end of the event, when the athletes compete for records.  However, an 'official VCB competition' does NOT count toward WCSA world records, those must be at a sanctioned WCSA event.  No one at VCB has yet to get an official WCSA score or record.

Will we ever have an 'all out' tournament?  Yes, one is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 20th, and Speed Stack competitors may be joining the competition from other churches! (maybe even out of state!) See EVENTS for up to date information as it is available.

Are there 'official rules for Speed Stacking?

Yes!  The World Cup Stacking Association makes the 'official rules.'  If you are a serious stacker, you definately should check out their site! www.worldcupstackingassociation.com

The official rules can be found directly at: WCSA RULES
