When Kidology.org pioneered the Internet in 1994, it was one of the only places to get creative help for kids ministry online. There was no YouTube, eBay, Yahoo or even Google! Kidology.org was THE place to get kidmin help! When we launched our fourth version of Kidology in 2001, smartphones were still over five years away and our site was 100% custom code. Having a massive custom site has been why it has been a long and costly process to update to this mobile era! Back then, forums were state-of-the-art and no other website offered member content, e-commerce, forums, conferences, a job center, resource directory, and so much more. Meet Nicki Staza – one of the most creative kidmins I know! We met years ago when I spoke at a conference she helped start in Canada, called the Kid Builders Conference. Since then, we’ve collaborated on a number of products. I so appreciate her devotion to children’s ministry and her sensitivity to the voice of God, that I asked her to serve on the Kidology board of directors. She also has some very unique and meaningful products on Kidology. Thanks to Facebook, I reconnected with two childhood friends over Christmas break while in California. And what better place than Portillo’s – a popular chain I discovered in Chicago that now has a location in Buena Park, California. (Just down the street from Knott’s Berry Farm.) Dennis I’ve known since we were in a 4th and 5th combination class at Gompers Elementary. I don’t remember now which grade it was, but Dennis transfered in mid-year and soon we were best buds. We met Richard a few years later and by junior high (Bancroft Junior High) and during my freshman year at Lakewood High School, we walked to and from school together every day down Coldbrook Avenue. I moved away to Chicagoland that summer and as often happens, I lost track of them. Over the years I often tried to look them up and a few years ago we found each other online. I believe Richard actually found me and then connected me with Dennis, as they had kept in touch. In fact, until just recently, Richard lived in the same house having inherited from his parents.
