A Galactic Christmas Carol for You!

My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Carol. by Charles Dickens. But not just any telling of it. It has to be the The Muppet’s version. (1992) It is truly the best version ever made. If you have not seen it, you must. Even if you aren’t in kid’s ministry and yes, even if you typically don’t like puppets. It is as touching as it is funny. And Gonzo and Rizzo the Rat, as narrators make the movie. They are simply hysterical. Micheal Caine does a great job as the Scrooge as well. Of course, Kermit and the Gang all do great filling in the rest of the cast. So, in 2004, I created my own parody of the movie in ToyBox Tales fashion. If you are not familiar with ToyBox Tales – for several years I performed stories with action figures on a set in front of a live audience of kids at my church as a way to introduce lessons or re-introduce familiar stories in a new and fun way. (From 2001-2005) Long before the phrase “going viral” existed, the videos I made “went viral” and as people found them on my church website and I was forced to…

Fall is Here! Get Yerself TRAINED!

Everywhere I go I run into Kidology Members who ask me where they can get affordable Leadership Training and I am surprised how often they are unaware that they have access to FREE online video Leadership Training as part of their Kidology Membership. I created Kidology Online Training specifically because I know not every leader can go to conferences. Through these FREE streaming online videos every Premium Member of Kidology can learn what I’ve learned in my twenty plus years of being a leader and children’s pastor. Then, to add to the learning experience, each training session has an optional add-on download kit that provides a RICH 30+ page PDF that goes even deeper into the material, has bonus material, a downloadable version of the video so you can go mobile with it or full screen and even gives you a PowerPoint so you can then, in turn, train YOUR leaders! When you are done and compile all FIVE PDFs the sum result is the Kidology Handbook Leader’s Edition, your companion to the highly popular Kidology Handbook Teacher’s Edition. But remember – while the download kits have a modest fee, the VIDEOS ARE FREE TO VIEW as a part of…

The KidHelper in Town

It’s been a great weekend! Barney Kinard, aka, The Kidhelper. The designer of Kidology Coaching has been in town for several days for some fun and strategic planning. If you’re my friend on facebook, then you’ve seen some of the fun we’ve had from Buffalo Burgers to Casa Bonita – but we’ve also been working on some pretty exciting changes and enhancements to Kidology Coaching as over seven students have graduated in the past several months between both coaches and preparing for adding some new coaches. (If that interests you, let me know.) If you have never considered a coaching relationship, you really should look into Kidology Coaching. It is incredibly unique. There are a lot of programs out there that use the term “coaching” that actually provide good training in children’s ministry, but that aren’t truly coaching. They may provide good exposure to ideas and resources through videos, MP3’s, group calls and other training opportunities, but only Kidology Coaching provides a genuine coaching experience that is curriculum based, with a customized experience to your unique needs and with personal one on one calls, usually via video conferencing with Skype. With Kidology Coaching are getting a personal coach to walk…

What Are You Teaching Sunday?

How are you handling Halloween? Kids are seeing a lot of scary images. Our culture is obsessed with evil. As you probably know, I wrote a Halloween Series this year. I just got this e-mail in from someone who just finished it: We just finished up our final Spooky Lessons of the Bible last night. The kids LOVED it! Great lesson series Pastor Karl. The kids really enjoyed the gross guessing game. We used peeled grapes for eyeballs, a loofah sponge and jello for a brain, REAL pigs feet from the meat section of the grocery and for the final night, we used pickles and pistachio nuts for gorilla fingers. But most important, our kids better understand that they don’t have to fear death if they have a relationship with Jesus Christ. The most powerful story in the series was the final night – the lesson of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection. Again, thank you for this fun and powerful series. I look forward to seeing what else you have in store for us! Lori Clark Gainesville Church of God, Florida Lori mentions the last lesson. Well, I have taken that last lesson, and made it available as a SINGLE LESSON…
