Hangin’ with the Prez in DC!

This past weekend, I got an awesome opportunity to travel around our nation’s capital as the personal escort and photographer for President George W. Bush. I guess he follows my blog, and when he heard I’d be in the DC area for a Kidology To Go seminar, he asked me if I wouldn’t mind coming a day early and walkin’ around with him and shootin’ some new ‘man of the people’ promo shots for him. Of course, I was flattered to be invited by THE President of these Great United States of America to be his escort and personal photographer, so I happily agreed. I’m hoping that many of these images will soon be seen in school text books, on the news, and in official promotional materials for George W… if so, you can say you saw them first HERE, on kidologist.com! COMPLETE GEORGE W. BUSH GALLERY Welcome to those of you who met me (and George) in DC and are looking for you picture! Here is a sampling of the pictures I took of “W” our day around town together: (more in the COMPLETE GEORGE W. BUSH GALLERY) George with his signature “Thumbs Up” at Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument…

This Old Church – Part 3: No Going Back Now!

Well, there is no going back now! The walls have been touched with paint, something they have been needing for a very long time. Now that I see how much it improves the atmosphere, even in the earlier stages, I am feeling bad that I didn’t start this sooner! We are actually doing TWO major projects at the same time, but all in the hallways. The preschool wing is getting a blue base color, but will be mostly covered with murals as we create a Spring garden that is inviting to preschoolers. (Especially in winter!) The blue that remains after the murals will be the sky. The difference is amazing! The current paint job on the walls and doors in the children’s ministry wing hasn’t been touched up in at least eight years (when I started working here) and was actually kinda gross in many places if you bothered to look closely. Amazing how blind we become when a place we love becomes ‘home.’ Hopefully, our new look will make it more inviting for others to make this their church home. Kelly green? (Our preschool director, Kelly, dressed to match the project!) The door and window frames are being done…

Workshops Online?

One of the things I am hopin’ to start doing soon is offering Kidology workshops online. I’ve already been invited to join the faculty of Children’s Ministry University Online, and am teaching my second course right now. (And will be teaching the “Pastoring Children” course for those who sign up before April 1st – join me!) My goal is to help provide online training 24/7 for children’s workers anywhere in the world who have access to the Internet. I’ve been kinda dabbling it in a little already. I put my Raising Rock Solid Kids classes online on my church CM website and have been encouraged to find out how many people are using those. A children’s pastor in Michigan told me today he has been converting them to MP3s to listen to on the road. (He has offered to send me the MP3s and I’ll add them to the site) You can check those out at: www.vcbkids.org/rocksolidkids I also just converted my first conference workshop to an MP3 file. Earlier this month I had the opportunity to minister at OCEA 2006. The only strange thing was that the company that did the recording put a 5-10 second gap every ten…

Life is STILL Crazy!

Yes, life is still crazy! And time to blog has been nearly impossible! But life has not been dull! It never is if you are passionately following God’s call on your life… boredom is never in God’s Will! (I’m not saying life has been ALL fun, there have been some signifant challenges and even trials, but those are no fun to blog about!) So here are some pics and fun links to prove I am still alive and having a blast serving God… even if Proverbs 6:4 seems to be my life verse lately! This month in Kids Church we are about DANIEL, the DARING DUDE! We are exploring HOPE by studying the life of Daniel and how to continually put his HOPE in God no matter what trial faced him! In each story each week we are looking at how Daniel applied hope: Our theme is parachuting! And we are learning how to parachute you need to being willing to LET GO and FALL and TRUST the parachute! In life, you also need to LET GO and FALL and TRUST GOD to take care of you. If you never “JUMP” you will never experience the thrills that God has…

CPC "Pastor Karl Awards" Continued….

The “PASTOR KARL AWARDS” Continue with with Day #2 and #3…. MOST AWESOME KIDOLOGY MEMBER / FAN: Shelly, a devoted fan and super encouraging Kidology member, (aka, “The Kidologist Stalker“) brought me a DEW! NO WHERE in all of WDW can you buy anything made by Pepsi! First she saved half of her last Dew for me, which I was rationing out in table spoons, and then she drove out of WDW to get me a whole six pack! That definately makes Shelly the cooest Kidology Member ever! While she may be one of the craziest and spaztic people I know, she is also an awesome children’s pastor as I discovered when I did a Kidology To Go seminar at her church in October 2005. GO SHELLY! BEST CARTOON VERSION OF ONES SELF: If you go to Rob Biagi’s booth, this is the banner above his booth. I wanted to see how accurate the cartoon of him is… what do you think?? I can barely tell them apart! BIGGEST RIP OFF: A littel game here: This total of $18.72 in the Coranado Spring restaurant was for what: a) Three Cokes b) A rip-eye steak and Coke c) Hamburger, Fries and…
