2nd Annual Disneyland in the Rain Event!

Yes, it was back to Disneyland in the rain. (again) Last year we stayed a day after CPC to visit Disneyland and went in the pouring rain with some friends, so this year we decided to go a day before CPC…. but it poured again! Klinkers, Tanners and Bastians… last year…. (since I wasn’t bloggin’ yet then) This is 2006… Steve Tanner and my cousin Andy Blackwell joined us. Kinda looks like 2005 pic, huh? But, hey…. it’s all about the memories…. even WET ones! Here’s “me and Andy”* – my best friend as a kid growin’ up in southern California. “Snoop” of “Sneak n Snoop” in our secret detective agency we formed. (I was “Sneak”) Here’s me with my best friend now… (she’s cuter than Andy) and Andy never washed my socks or cooked for me. :) Sorry Andy, but I highly recommend a wife. :-D Though I did catch her kissin’ another man at Disneyland…. and a FROG at that! Disneyland is celebrating it’s 50th Birthday, and there was a lot of fun and cool stuff around the park, but rather than bore you with all that…. (go see for yourself)…. I MUST say the fireworks show was…

KING KONG: TOO LONG, TOO LAME, TOO GROSS

KING KONG turned out to be the KING of DISAPPOINTMENTS for me. I was REALLY looking forward to this movie, but it seems Narnia will be the King this season. While there were some pretty intense scenes, overall I was very disappointed, and I don’t think it is worth your seven bucks: 1) TOO LONG – they wasted waaaaaaaaay too much time developing characters that weren’t central and that would just be eaten or otherwise killed. I guess they tried to make you care, or tried to build attachment, but it fell short. They would have been better off starting when they got to the island, everything before it is irrelevant and trite. 2) TOO LAME – ok, I like a strong woman who can hold her own, and she definately keeps her wits about her and is able to save her life that way… but fallling in love with the big ape? Paleeeeze. The loving looks were just too much. (Bleh!) She should have been glad when she was out of there, not wanting to go back. What did she want to do? Grow old with him and raise a family? She seemed to care more about Kong than…

GO CHICAGO!!!!

Yes, I DID go out and buy me a WHITE SOX SHIRT yesterday! Couldn’t watch the final game with nothing White Sox on!!! It was a very intense game! A battle of the pitchers. My favorite WS stat was this, WAIT! I will make it a quiz, and see who is the first to post the answer in the COMMENTS! You MIGHT even win a prize!! Q: What White Sox Player became the FIRST baseball player IN HISTORY to win TWO World Series Games on the same day AND on his birthday??? (same day because Game Three went into the 14th inning and into the morning hours) Finally, THEY WON! This is me with the family I watched the game with. (Not pictured is Sara, who isn’t a baseball nut like the rest of us.) Did I convert to being a White Sox Fan and desert my Cubbies? Nope. I decided to have an AL favorite team and an NL favorite team. Now all I have to figure out is which team is in which league. (See what a serious baseball fan I am?) All I’m wondering is, when the Astros lost, did they all go in the clubhouse and…

Seein’ Double?

Tonight was “TWINS NIGHT” at our Awana Club. Many of you may not know that I have a twin brother, Kurt, but since it was ‘twins night’ I invited him to come to Awana. We wore matching shirts to add to the fun. The only problem was, that throughout the night, we never got to meet. I kept looking for him, visiting all the rooms over and over, and reportedly, Kurt did the same. The kids could tell us apart because, of course, I was drinkin’ Dew whereas Kurt had a McDonald’s Coke, and Kurt wears glasses. (Claimed he is the smarter of the pair.) Because we never were in the same room at the same time, the clubbers started to accuse me of pretending to have a twin brother! (can you believe that!?) So at the end of the night, when I finally found him, we posed for a picture with our Commander’s daughter to prove we both were there! Here is me, Natalie, and Kurt on Twins Night at Awana. He may be smarter, but he definitely isn’t the good lookin’ one.

Happy Birthday to Me. :)

I woke up this morning to a nice surprise, our web director had posted my birthday on the Kidology.org homepage with a forum post for people to say ‘Happy Birthday.’ It was fun to read those posts! I even got a cell phone call from a Kidology member in Colorado! Today I am 36. And since I love numbers, I was reflecting today that I have lived to be six years old, six times! When I hit the first ‘6’, I was still a youngling at Bellflower Baptist Church in California. By ’12’ I was a young Gospel Magician already doing shows at church and in my friends’ churches. Six more years and I was a senior in high school, at ’18.’ By the end of the next six, I would be ’24,’ a graduate of MBI and married! The next six took me through several ministries, but by ’30’ I was at my present ministry. What amazed me the most reflecting, was that I have been in the same ministry for the last six years. Which means, that a 1/6th of my life has been at the Village Church! It doesn’t seem that long, so I must still be…
