My Kidmin Covenant
12 Commitments for a Ministry that Pleases the Lord
Order the New Kidmin Covenant Reflective Guide, companion to the Kidmin Covenant series.
1. I will start each day in prayer—first for my own walk with God, then for my family, and finally for my ministry.
- Mark 1:35 – “Very early in the morning… Jesus got up… and prayed.”
- Philippians 4:6 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer… present your requests to God.”
- 1 Thessalonians 5:17 – “Pray without ceasing.”
2. I will be in the Word daily—first to grow spiritually, then to grow in biblical knowledge for teaching others.
- Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
- 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – “All Scripture is God-breathed… so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped.”
- Joshua 1:8 – “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night…”
3. I will submit my daily plans to the Lord, seeking His priorities before mine so that I remain intentional.
- Proverbs 16:3 – “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
- Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord… in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
- James 4:13-15 – “You ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.’”
4. I will reach out daily to encourage at least one friend, family member, or volunteer—putting people over tasks.
- Hebrews 10:24 – “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”
- 1 Thessalonians 5:11 – “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up…”
- Galatians 6:2 – “Carry each other’s burdens…”
5. I will teach from and with a Bible, so my students see Scripture as the source and authority of all truth.
- Deuteronomy 6:6-7 – “Impress them on your children… talk about them…”
- Isaiah 40:8 – “The grass withers… but the word of our God endures forever.”
- Acts 17:11 – “They received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day…”
6. I will be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.
- James 1:19-20 – “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak…”
- Proverbs 15:1 – “A gentle answer turns away wrath…”
- Ecclesiastes 5:2 – “Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart…”
7. I will maintain a teachable spirit—always open to learning, correction, and fresh ideas.
- Proverbs 9:9 – “Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still…”
- Proverbs 12:1 – “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge…”
- Colossians 3:16 – “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly… teaching and admonishing…”
8. I will be quick to overlook offenses and even quicker to forgive.
- Proverbs 19:11 – “It is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.”
- Ephesians 4:32 – “Be kind and compassionate… forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
- Colossians 3:13 – “Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
9. I will do everything as though I am doing it for the Lord—because I am.
- Colossians 3:23-24 – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…”
- 1 Corinthians 10:31 – “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
- Romans 12:11 – “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”
10. I will pass on praise—acknowledging those who helped and ultimately giving glory to God.
- 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 – “I planted the seed… but God has been making it grow.”
- Philippians 2:3 – “Do nothing out of selfish ambition… value others above yourselves.”
- Psalm 115:1 – “Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory…”
11. I will honor rest as a gift from God, not as an afterthought—because rest is part of faithfulness.
- Exodus 20:8-10 – “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy…”
- Mark 6:31 – “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
- Matthew 11:28 – “Come to me, all who are weary… and I will give you rest.”
12. I will measure success by obedience, not by numbers or applause.
- 1 Samuel 15:22 – “To obey is better than sacrifice…”
- Galatians 1:10 – “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God?”
- Matthew 25:21 – “Well done, good and faithful servant…”
