Yosemite Summit 2008 Video

(Reprinted from Yosemite Summit for my blog readers) Don’t miss the video at the end, and click any picture for a larger view. It’s hard to believe the Yosemite Summit 2008 is over. It’s been several weeks, but it still feels like a part of me is still there in the Sierra Nevada. It’s been fun sorting through the 5000+ pictures we took and reliving the fun memories. Not only the incredible PLACE we were, but the awesome friendships that were formed and will continue to grow in the years ahead. It was an amazing time together and God did some incredible work in our lives. For me, my soul comes alive in this place and I finally feel truly free. We started our first day watching the sun rise at Glacier Point. The views are simply spectacular! It was a time to leave the busyness and noise of normal life behind and just listen to God. There were times we could just sit and soak our souls in the presence of God as well as walking with Him on the incredible hikes. There is just something powerful about reading God’s Word and praying when you are in a place…

A Model CM Ministry!

This past weekend I was honored to be invited as they keynote speaker at a conference hosted by Spiritual Formation Ministry of the Wesleyan Church. (see www.wesleyankids.org) It was called The Huddle, and while there was several these Huddles around the country, I was at the Shenandoah district hosted by Parkway Wesleyan Church in Roanoke, Virginia. Marty Martin, a Kidology CP Team member, invited me over a year ago and knew to lure me with pictures of the mountains that surround the church. I highly recommend installing mountains around your church! The church is located on the top of it’s own mountain with a beautiful winding road leading up to it and has a spectacular view of the entire city. Marty and his wife Patsy posing in a brisk cold wind in front of the church. They are an awesome team. Patsy leads the children’s worship as well helps with many other behind-the-scenes things. There joy of serving the Lord together was so evident. It was obvious right away that this was a church that understands children. From the wind tunnel dude greeting visitors to the playground, granted, it was too cold to be filled wit children on Sunday! Parkview…

My Friend Dan Gets to Celebrate Easter With Jesus

Dan and I, March 4th, 2008  Today I got one of those calls none of us wants to get. When I saw “Dan Rase” on my phone it didn’t matter that I was about to go out the door with my little boy for a father-son evening, this was a good friend calling – even if it had to be short and offer to call back, I was so glad he was calling. Instead it was his wife, Joyce. As soon as I heard her voice I knew something was wrong, but I was not prepared for her to tell me that Dan had gone to meet the Lord early this morning due to a heart attack while he slept. I had just seen Dan at the Kidology Gathering at CPC in San Diego. Afterward, even though it was nearly 11pm, we stood outside enjoying the cool evening California weather and talked until after midnight. We talked about life, our marriages, our ministries, our failures, our disappointments, our hopes and dreams… and our adopted children. It was one of those conversations that marks you and changes you. I was sick that whole week and running pretty weak, but knew that…

CPC San Diego Kidology Gathering

UP-DATED AT END OF POST  If you are here at CPC San Diego, we are having our Kidology Gathering TONIGHT at the Terrace Cafe, 10pm to Midnight! If you are going to the GO FISH Concert (at 10pm) have no fear, we will still be there at 11pm. It was a great time last year to put faces with e-mails and enjoy some mutual encouragement! I look forward to seeing you there! UP-DATE:  We had a fun gathering of Kidolog folks for several hours last night. (click the picture to enlarge) Not everyone is pictured and some couldn’t come, but it was a great time of fellowship, sharing struggles, praises and ideas. The highlight of CPC is always connecting with people in person, something the Internet will never replace. I’ve been battling a cold and running at 60% power so I’ve not been able to blog or post much, but I will when I get home and feel better. Not soon enough!
