Five Benefits of a Children’s Check-In System

Secure children’s check-in is about more than just attendance tracking. KidCheck delivers a full-featured, easy-to-use, and scalable check-in solution, helping you strengthen child safety, increase data accessibility, connect with families, and streamline your check-in/out process. Child Safety Child safety is vital and certain tracking and safety measures are necessary. You must have accurate records of children checking in and out, know who is picking up, verify they are authorized to do so, and be aware of allergy or medical concerns. Safety is the foundation upon which KidCheck is built. Children’s check-in also helps reduce liability providing a layer of protection for volunteers/staff. Security Labels include matching security codes and unique watermark images printed on child badges and guardian receipts, and important allergy and medical warnings. A special icon is printed on a child’s label if an unauthorized guardian is listed on their account. Electronic Guardian Receipts are available on any mobile device via the KidCheck App and contains no personal information, so no one can pick up a child who shouldn’t. Authorized vs. Unauthorized options increase safety. An “unauthorized guardian” designation on an account helps reduce the chances of a child being released to someone they shouldn’t be. Are You Called to Minister to Children?

In my vast collection of children’s ministry resources, materials, booklets, pamphlets, and relics from decades of ministry I stumbled upon this treasure. It is a recruiting tool from CEF, Child Evangelism Fellowship. No author’s name is provided, but the content does say you’ll never gain fame or glory in children’s ministry, perhaps they lived that by leaving off their name. I’m posting this because the content of this simple pamphlet is GOLD. I’ll be sharing some of the heart of it in my children’s ministry orientation on Sunday to potential volunteers. I’ve scanned it here for you to read, reflect and reuse as you see fit. The words may be dated but the message is timeless. I think this is a message that needs to be shared today loudly and clearly. The CALL of Children’s Ministry needs to be elevated to the high calling that it is. Here is the overview: The one who is called to children’s ministry will believe that children are important in themselves. One who is called to minister to children believes that children are important to God. Those called to reach children are committed to their life-and-death spiritual needs. The one who is called believes…

Touring a Legacy

This week, my pastor took the staff from my church, Highpoint Church, on a field trip to visit every location of Highpoint Church since its founding in 1933. A few of the buildings no longer exist, but we stood where they once were and thanked God for the faithfulness of those who came before us and their vision for our city and their faithfulness to their calling. The church made such an impact in it’s community, that the city of Aurora, Colorado gifted them the land for their second location. Imagine your city appreciating you so much that they give you land so your ministry can expand? This building was purchased debt free as the ministry continued to grow. At the third location we watched a drug deal happen in the middle of the street as we gathered. This is the location Highpoint was at the longest. Land was purchased and a new building was begun when the economy tanked, construction was halted and Highpoint had six weeks to vacate this building and became a mobile church for a refining season. It was a journey through amazing stories of nearly 90 years of God’s miraculous provision through the years, many…

Bring a Kid to Church

Bring a kid to church! There are so many unchurched kids who need a caring adult to invite them to church. Moody Church in Chicago was started because a man named Dwight started bringing lost poor kids to church. Since people rented pews back then the church leaders began to complain that the kids weren’t paying or supporting the ministry financially – so Dwight start renting pews for the kids. When it got to be too many kids, they told him he could no longer bring the children, they were too disruptive. So instead he rented a warehouse and started what he called a “Sunday School” to teach the children how to read using the Bible as a textbook as a strategy to lift them out of poverty. It grew and grew until it was hundreds of children every Sunday morning. It got so big it drew the attention of the President of the United States of America and launched a national Sunday School movement. President Abraham Lincoln visited to check it out. Today it is the Moody Church on LaSalle Boulevard. I got to be their first children’s pastor over 100 years later. You may know Dwight today as…
