The Art of Demotivation (It’s a gift!)

Every leader needs help demotivating their employees or volunteers. If you are struggling with highly motivated, initiative saturated, creative and energetic employees or volunteers who define responsibility with their dedication and punctuality, have no fear, Despair.com is here to help. I would highly recommend this website to anyone in leadership. It is time those under you appreciated just how important you are, and just how replaceable they are. Below are samples of the posters and products available on the Despair.com website, and I ESPECIALLY RECOMMEND you watch their DEMOTIVATOR VIDEOS. (You can even subscribe to their podcast) I have always loved this website, the videos make it all the more richer! ENJOY: and there are many more where these came from! Seriously, spend some time clicking around Despair.com, it is hysterical. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll be demotivated. Happy to make your day!

PARENTS! It’s not too late to join us!

THIS SUNDAY, March 26th, we are privileged to have Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller speaking at our church. They will be speaking in my adult Sunday school class as the conclusion of my course on Raising Rock Solid Kids (9:30-10:45am) and then teaching a seminar in the afternoon from 4-7pm. The cost is only $20, and a spouse is free. (limit one spouse per person, see Old Testament for details) And, yes, there will be food. WALK INS WELCOME! These amazing trainers will inspire and entertain while providing excellent and practical training. They are the author of one of my favorite books, and permanent in my personal TOP TEN BEST BOOKS list, Parenting is HEART Work. Watch the trailor for the seminar, it was very well done! Life is STILL Crazy!

Yes, life is still crazy! And time to blog has been nearly impossible! But life has not been dull! It never is if you are passionately following God’s call on your life… boredom is never in God’s Will! (I’m not saying life has been ALL fun, there have been some signifant challenges and even trials, but those are no fun to blog about!) So here are some pics and fun links to prove I am still alive and having a blast serving God… even if Proverbs 6:4 seems to be my life verse lately! This month in Kids Church we are about DANIEL, the DARING DUDE! We are exploring HOPE by studying the life of Daniel and how to continually put his HOPE in God no matter what trial faced him! In each story each week we are looking at how Daniel applied hope: Our theme is parachuting! And we are learning how to parachute you need to being willing to LET GO and FALL and TRUST the parachute! In life, you also need to LET GO and FALL and TRUST GOD to take care of you. If you never “JUMP” you will never experience the thrills that God has…

Dew from Heaven!

Due to a bunch of technical jargon I won’t bore you with (too late) I was unable to ‘blog’ for over a week! ahhhhhh! I know you’ve been checking every day. Wasn’t it St. Augustine who said that everyone is born with a Karl’s Blog Shaped Void? Anyway, here are a few of the things I wanted to post… the rest I’ll skip now and you can just wonder the rest of your life! This photo above is going in my collection right next to my photo of Big Foot and the Loch Ness Monster. I caught a picture of my youth pastor sitting at my office Mac. (notice the beautiful 21 inch screen with a Mac mini!) I actually left my office for an appointment and trusted him to stay and play on it. Since the only way a Mac can get a virus is for someone to be sitting at it and manually install it, this was a great demonstration of trust. Despite how stable Macs are, he did manage to get some error messages to appear, which he gleefully documented with screen shots, including the following: Message my PC loving youth pastor supposedly saw on my Mac’s…

What a Week!

I’m always saying to my wife, Sara, ‘As soon as life returns to normal….,’ to which she replies, ‘this is normal.’ Whew! What a week! Busy! But lots of fun. Crazy, insane, but exciting at the same time. The thing I like best about this blog is that it helps ME to keep perspective on all the great things God is doing – so that in the midst of all the deadlines, e-mails, paperwork, and chaos I don’t overlook all the good things that have happened. I often look at this blog and marvel at the fun things here, and know it looks like all I ever do is play – the hours at the computer, late nights at the office, nearly missed deadines, and overall scatter-brained activity isn’t blogged. People often ask me, “How do you find time for all the fun stuff when you have two very full time ministries to lead.” My answer is always, “I don’t find the time, I make the time.” If you don’t schedule fun, time with people, recreation, and travel – you’ll never do it. The important things in life never ‘pop up’ – you must make them happen in the midst…
