The LEAST vs. GREATEST GAME!

The LEAST vs. GREATEST GAME! “The Last Shall Be First” Prep: Number the Chairs: ROW # and SEAT # (Signs Provided at Link Below) Points: You need something physical for points – popsicle sticks, beans, etc. Something that can be passed out quickly that kids can hold so the points are tangible. PLAY: Kids Move Around and Choose a Chair, then the next RULE is read! (Option: You can make it appear that the rules are random by drawing a rule from a hat, just make sure you draw the final rule last.) Don’t mislead or lie to the kids, but you can make it appear that the winner will be those with the most points. This is a natural assumption. The final rule will turn that around! Those who thought they were doing poorly will win, and those who thought they we were winning, weren’t. The last slip taped to side so it can be drawn last. NOTE: When you have many winners (like Odd or Even numbers) to speed up the game, just say “If you won come up here and get a point.” Don’t challenge any kids who may come up to get a point who didn’t…

Kids are curious! They love to learn! Curiousity hints, it creates anticipation. It instills wonder. Kids don’t learn from what they are told. They learn from what they discover. So in our teaching, we must foster their creativity by doing things that help them ask questions, seek knowledge and that engages their minds. The MOMstacle Course! Could You Handle a Mom’s Day?

One year for Mother’s Day I wanted to help the kids at my church relate to what a typical day is like for their mom – but in a fun way. So I created The MOMstacle Course! It’s a race featuring the type of things Moms have to do on a regular basis. It includes putting Band-aids on boo-boo’s, walking on Legos, matching socks, and more – and ended with sitting down to enjoy some tea. Sending Kids on a MISSION!

Kids come to church, listen, learn and then go home. But how do we impact how they live? It is so important to give children practical things they can do to live out what they are learning at church. Your curriculum likely calls that the “Application.” But just telling kids an application, doesn’t mean they’ll remember to do it! So how do you break into the routine and busyness of their week? Just like your lesson, you need to make the application fun. As we teach kids to share, give and be generous, we need to also provide them a way to DO it. How? Send them on a Mission! Our church is currently collecting school supplies for teaches and students at an inner city elementary school our church has partnered with. That is their mission. My mission is to make collecting these supplies fun. So last week, my son and I went to Walmart to demonstrate the Mission we want to send our kids on.
